#23 W&M Men's Cross Country Finishes 14th at Pre-Nationals

The 23rd-ranked William and Mary men's cross country team piled up 434 points Saturday at the Pre-National Invitational, finishing 14th in the field of 40 teams.  No. 7 Colorado won the event with 72 points over No. 3 BYU (127), and UTEP freshman Anthony Rotich was the individual winner in 23:01.0.

Leading the way for the Tribe was redshirt-junior Josh Hardin (Sterling, Va.), who ran 23:52.2 to finish 26th overall.  Senior John Muller (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) ran 24:06.6 to take 59th overall, and Rad Gunzenhauser (Pittsburgh, Pa.) came across the line in 24:18.2 for 78th.  Senior Alex McGrath (Marlborough, N.H.) was fourth across the line in 24:39.7, and grad-student Joe LoRusso (Oak Hill, Va.) finished out the scoring in 145th, running 24:48.0.  The freshman pair of Ryan Gousse (Apopka, Fla.) and Nathan Thomas (Brentwood, Tenn.) rounded out the team effort, running 25:26.4 and 25:33.8, respectively.

William and Mary is next in action in two weeks, hosting the Colonial Athletic Association Championships for the first time since 2001.  The race will begin at 11 a.m. on October 27, at Eastern State in Williamsburg.
