The William and Mary women's cross country team finished 21st at the NCAA Championships Saturday afternoon, scoring 481 points with a pair of All-American finishers.  Oregon won the team championship with 114 points over Providence (183) and Stanford (198), while Iowa State's Betsy Saina was the individual champion in a time of 19:27.9.

Leading the way for W&M was junior Elaina Balouris (Allison Park, Pa.), who ran 19:56.0 for 13th overall and her second All-America nod.  She is the fourth athlete in school history be named a cross country All-American, and her 13th-place performance is the fourth-best ever.  Freshman Emily Stites (Wyoming, Ohio) made school history, finishing 26th in 20:05.8 to become the first freshman ever at W&M to earn All-America honors.  Her finish was the sixth-best ever at W&M, and she was the fourth rookie across the line from the entire field.

Also for the Tribe, junior Clarissa Schick (Richmond, Va.) was third across the line for the Green and Gold, running 21:16.0 for 170th overall.  Redshirt-junior Michelle Britto (Woodbridge, Va.) was 191st in 21:28.1, and junior Lanie Smith (Reston, Va.) was five seconds back in 21:33.7, finishing 207th.  Rounding out the team effort was freshman Meghan McGovern (North Wales, Pa.) and sophomore Dylan Hassett (Alpharetta, Ga.), running 21:47.1 and 21:49.5, respectively.
