The William and Mary men's track and field team continued competition Saturday at the CNU Holiday Open, resetting a freshman record and marking two new entries in the College's record books.

Complete Results

Weight Throw
In the weight throw, freshman Taylor Frenia (Virginia Beach, Va.) wasted little time in surpassing the freshman record he set last week, finishing second overall with a toss of 15.62 meters (51-3).  The throw was about a foot past his first effort in the event, and ranks Frenia 11th in school history in the event.

Shot Put
Frenia was also impressive in the shot put, where he was third overall with a put of 14.95m (49-0.75).

Pole Vault
In the pole vault freshman Austin Vegas (Kernersville, N.C.) finished third overall, clearing a height of 4.61m (15-1.5).  He took three solid attempts at a lifetime-best 4.76m (15-7.25), but even without that height still ranks 13th all-time indoors at W&M.  Classmate Greg Gallagher (Elsmford, N.Y.) was fifth, at a height of 4.46m (14-7.5), and ranks 17th in school history indoors.

3,000m Run
Freshman Dmitri Zuccarello (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led a Tribe sweep of the top four places in the 3,000m, winning the race handily in 8:37.79.  Will Bass (Nashville, N.C.) was second in 8:48.30, while freshmen David Pennesi (Fredericksburg, Va.) and David Barney (Lynchburg, Va.) were third and fourth in 8:52.20 and 8:55.98, respectively.

Mile Run
In the mile, junior David Gunnerson (Yorktown, Va.) had the first of his two top-notch performances on the day.  Gunnerson ran 4:22.10 to finish third overall in the event.

800m Run

Gunnerson came back later in the day, and took fifth overall in the 800m run, timing 2:01.52 in the four-lap race.

William and Mary now has six weeks off for exams and winter break.  The Tribe's next competition will come on Sunday, January 20, at the CNU Captain's Invitational.
