William and Mary's freshman All-American Emily Stites (Wyoming, Ohio) will exchange the Green and Gold for the Red, White, and Blue on Saturday, after she was named to Team USA for the Bupa Great Edinburgh International Challenge.  Stites is one of six women who will run for the U.S. in the junior women's 4K race, taking on teams from Great Britain and Europe.

Stites had an outstanding debut season for the Tribe this fall, capped off by earning All-American honors with a 26th-place finish at the NCAA Championships.  She was also voted the CAA Rookie of the Year, the third straight season and 10th time overall that W&M has boasted the league's best newcomer.  Stites proved she was special early in the year, winning her first collegiate race in an unattached performance, and was a narrow second to Balouris at the W&M Invitational (also unattached) and at Paul Short.  After leading the team at Pre-Nationals, Stites finished third at the CAA Championships and 10th at the Southeast Regional.  At the NCAA Championships, she became the first freshman in school history to be named All-American, finishing 26th in the nation, and was the fourth freshman overall in the race.

This is the third straight year that W&M has been represented in Edinburgh, after showings by men's All-Americans Ed Moran '03 in 2011 and Jon Grey '11 in 2012.  Stites is just the second Tribe women's runner to compete internationally while still in college, joining Betsy Graney '11 who ran the 3,000m steeplechase at the 2008 IAAF World Junior Track Championships.

The race will go off at 12:30 p.m. local, 7:30 a.m. Eastern, on Saturday morning.  Historic Holyrood Park (est. 1541) in Edinburgh, Scotland, plays host to the day's races, which will be broadcast in the U.K. on BBC beginning at 8 a.m. Eastern (1:00 p.m., local)
