William and Mary head volleyball coach Melissa Aldrich Shelton ’91 announced the signing of four student-athletes today, bolstering the Tribe’s roster in key positions.  The incoming Class of 2017 includes two setters, a libero, and a middle-blocker.

Following is a brief look at each incoming student-athlete:

Kristen Larrick – 6-1, MB
Bethesda, Md./Walter Johnson (Metro American Volleyball Club)

"We will be using Kristen at the middle position. She's a strong, quick, determined athlete who is just beginning to hit her stride as a volleyball player. Once her skill set catches up to the speed of college volleyball, she will easily push our returning middles for court time."

"Paige is a terrific all-around player who just recently began to concentrate on the setter position. She's quick, agile and strong… a great physical presence in the setting spot. Paige is also very competitive and will do the necessary work to achieve success. I am looking forward to working with her over the next four years."

Prep: Selected as the Mid-Piedmont Conference Player of the Year as a senior … Also named all-county in 2012 … Averaged 6.4 kills per set as a senior … Three-time all-conference performer … The top-ranked student in her class all four years of high school … President of the Interact Community Service organization … Member of the Chemistry Club and Beta Club.

Her size and intellect will be a nice addition to our setting ranks, while her on-court demeanor will be a strong, positive influence for our team. I believe we are very lucky to have an athlete like Stephanie joining our team and I'm grateful she chose to come to W&M."

Prep: Captained Walter Johnson to the Maryland 4A state semifinals as a senior … Also won the region championship alongside fellow recruit Kristen Larrick … Team MVP … Named first-team all-county … Selected honorable mention to the Washington Post All-Met team each of the past two years … All-County second-team in 2010 and 2011 … Honor roll and scholar-athlete for all four years…Currently plays for Virginia Elite volleyball club … Competed in the 2011 AAU Junior Nationals for Metro American.
