Tribe Travels to Wake Forest Spring Invite

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William and Mary men's tennis team will open the 2013 spring season at the Wake Forest Invitational, Jan. 11-14, in Winston-Salem, N.C. The event will include players from the host Demon Deacons as well as SEC power Tennessee along with the Tribe, Kennesaw State and Liberty. The event includes a 16-team doubles draw and a 36-player singles draw.

W&M will have a trio of doubles teams competing. Senior Adrian Vodislav and junior Ben Guthrie will take on the Liberty duo of Siim Tuus and Stan Vaughn in the first round on Friday. The Tribe pair of junior John Banks and freshman Scott Huang meets the Kennesaw State team of Louis Theodor and Tobi Menhofer in the opening round, while sophomores Aaron Chaffee and Will Juggins square off with the Liberty twosome of Guillem Secanell and Sergio Mourelo. All doubles matches are slated for 10 a.m. on Friday.

In singles action, junior Ben Hoogland drew the top seed in the event and the No. 40-ranked player in the country, Hunter Reese of Tennessee, at 11 a.m. on Friday. Juggins is slated to face the No. 4 seed David Hopkins of Wake Forest at 11 a.m., while Vodislav will meet Kennesaw State's Louis Theodor at 12:30 p.m. Banks and Huang will each face an opponent to be determined at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Both Tribe players drew play-in match winners in the first round of the event.

Doubles will begin each day at 10 a.m. with one round being competed each of the four days of the event. Friday will include the play-in and first round of the singles draw, while two rounds - second round and quarterfinals - will be played on Saturday. The semifinals are set for Sunday with the finals to follow on Monday.
