William and Mary freshman Andrew Nyce (Vienna, Va.) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday, after his record-setting performance last weekend at the Cavalier Invitational.  This is the first weekly award of Nyce's career, and he is the third Tribe swimmer honored this season.

Nyce had eight swims on the weekend, and set seven lifetime-best marks over the course of the two-day meet.  Most impressively, he set freshman records in both the 400 IM and the 200 breast.  In the former, he swam 3:58.73 in the finals of the event, becoming just the second man in school history to time under four minutes.  In the 200 breast, he swam 2:03.97 in the prelims to break the freshman record and land fourth on the all-time athletes list.  On Friday, Nyce had timed 57.93 in the 100 breast to rank 13th in school history, and 1:53.14 in the 200 IM to improve to ninth all-time.

William and Mary takes aim at its first-ever conference title next weekend, competing at the CAA Championships Wednesday-Saturday, Feb. 27-March 2, at George Mason.
