WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - William and Mary junior Ben Hoogland was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. Hoogland posted a 2-1 ledger last week for the Tribe, including the clinching victory in the Green and Gold's 4-3 victory over Illinois State.

Hoogland earned the second CAA weekly honor of the season for W&M after junior John Banks and freshman Scott Huang garnered CAA Doubles Team of the Week honors on Feb. 20. It marks the third CAA weekly honor in Hoogland's career and the first singles award. On two occasions in 2012, he was part of the CAA Doubles Team of the Week.

Hoogland clinched W&M's 4-3 win over Illinois State by posting a three-set victory over Rolando Torrellas, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, at the No. 4 position on March 1. He ran his winning streak to four by defeating Jon Ho of No. 22 Wake Forest, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (8), at the No. 4 post on March 3. Despite falling at the No. 3 spot against ninth-ranked Georgia on Monday, he owns a team-best dual-match record of 9-4 and 12 wins overall.

The Tribe closes out its spring break trip with its fourth game against a nationally-ranked opponent in a five-day stretch. W&M travels to No. 62-ranked Georgia Tech on Thursday, March 7, at 3:30 p.m.
