WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William and Mary women's tennis team swept the Colonial Athletic Association weekly award, the league office announced on Tuesday. Freshman Leeza Nemchinov was named the league player of the week, while her and junior Sydney Smith were also honored as the doubles team of the week. It marked the sixth and seventh weekly CAA honors for the Tribe this season.

Nemchinov was named the player of the week after clinching the Tribe's 5-2 win over Wake Forest on Sunday. It marked the third time this season that Nemchinov clinched a W&M victory. The Tribe rookie dropped the opening set in a tiebreaker, 7-6, to the Demon Deacon's Xue Zhang at the No. 3 spot, before winning the next two sets, 6-0, 6-4, to record her seventh straight victory. Nemchinov improved to 17-9 overall and a team-best 11-2 in dual-match play.

Smith and Nemchinov garnered the CAA doubles honor after clinching the doubles point against Wake Forest. The Tribe duo cruised past Brigita Bercyte and Karen Forman, 8-1, at the No. 3 slot for its third straight victory. The tandem is a perfect 3-0 in dual matches on the year. It marks the second straight week in which the Tribe took home the doubles team of the week honor as juniors Maria Belaya and Jeltje Loomans received the distinction for the second time on Feb. 27.

Winners of seven straight, the Tribe will have nearly two week off, before returning to action with a road trip to the Washington, D.C., area. W&M, which is 11-2 on the year, meets BIG EAST foe Georgetown on Saturday, March 16, before trekking to Maryland on Sunday, March 17. Both matches carry a noon start time.
