Tribe Women's Golf 10th After Two Rounds at Pinehurst

The William and Mary women's golf team finished the first day at the Pinehurst Challenge in 10th place out of 19 teams, shooting 621 (+45) through two rounds.  Richmond leads the field on Pinehurst #6 at 594 (+18), three strokes ahead of the College of Charleston.  Those two schools also produced the individual co-leaders, Caroline Lovette and Vanessa Koechli, respectively, at 147 (+3).

Leading the way for the Tribe is sophomore Kelly Okun (Palm Beach, Fla.), who shot an even-par 72 in the first round before shooting 78 in the afternoon to stand tied for 10th overall at 150 (+6).  Classmate Anna McMullen (Monroe, La.) is three strokes back after a consistent day of 77-76, and stands tied for 30th heading into the final day.  Freshman Alessandra Liu (Cynwyd, Pa.) shot 77 in the afternoon and is tied for 62nd, one stroke ahead of senior Betsy Birchall (Mountain Brook, Ala.), who is tied for 67th.  Rounding out the team is sophomore Kellie Edelblut (New Hope, Pa.), tied for 81st overall after registering an eight-stroke improvement over lunch to come back with 78 in the afternoon.

The Pinehurst Challenge concludes Tuesday with one round.
