WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William and Mary men’s tennis team garnered rankings in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Region standing released on June 5. As a team, the Green and Gold was ranked No. 7 in the region, while the Tribe duo of senior Anton Andersson and sophomore Aaron Chaffee garnered a top-10 regional doubles ranking.
As a team, the Tribe won six of its final nine matches. The Green and Gold put together an impressive 10-2 regional mark, racking up 12 wins overall on the season. After downing James Madison in the CAA semifinal, the Tribe fell in the championship match to No. 43-ranked UNCW.
Andersson and Chaffee finished the season on a hot streak with seven straight wins, before falling to an UNCW doubles team that finished the season ranked No. 22 nationally. The Tribe duo earned First-Team All-CAA honors, while racking up an 11-8 mark. Of those triumphs, Andersson and Chaffee won 10 matches at the No. 1 doubles positions, including an 8-2 win over the No. 88-ranked team in the country from Old Dominion.
