The William and Mary women's golf team opened up play at the Penn State Nittany Lion Invitational Friday, shooting 306 (+18) to tie for eighth overall after the first of three rounds.  Yale leads the 14-team event with a stellar 289 (+1), four strokes ahead of Penn State's host team.  On the individual leaderboard, PSU's Christina Vosters carded a 3-under 69 to hold a one-stroke lead.

The Tribe's six-woman team was led once again by freshman Kelly McGovern (The Woodlands, Texas), who shot 73 (+1) to tie for 11th overall.  Junior Kellie Edelblut (New Hope, Pa.) is tied for 34th at 77 (+5), one stroke ahead of both Alessandra Liu (Cynwyd, Pa.) and Mia Zanghetti (Jacksonville, Fla.) who are tied in a pack at 39th.  Junior Kelly Okun (Palm Beach, Fla.) shot 82 (+10) to tie for 79th, and Tina Chang (Mineola, N.Y.) is tied for 81st one stroke back.

The Nittany Lion Invitational continues Saturday, with one round starting at 9 a.m.
