Tribe Men's Track Wins Tri-Meet at CNU

The William and Mary men's track and field team finished up its Easter weekend on Saturday, winning at Christopher Newport and turning in several more strong performances at Princeton.  At CNU, the Tribe scored 92 points to out-distance Longwood (65) and Hampton (14).

Notables included freshman Reider Strehler (Moseley, Va.), who won the 3,000m at CNU in 9:04.67.  Sophomore Taylor Frenia (Virginia Beach, Va.) was also a winner Saturday, putting the shot 15.38m (50-5.5) to muscle to the top of the event.  W&M's 4x100m relay of Dominic Burkett (Chesapeake, Va.), Alex Hedrick (Falls Church, Va.), Ryan Thomas (Fairfield, Conn.), and Matt Pittard (Lynchburg, Va.) combined to take fourth in 45.80 seconds, the best showing since 2011 for the Tribe.  Other top-eight finishes included Pittard in the 400m at CNU, and senior David Gunnerson (Yorktown, Va.), in the 1,500m at Princeton.

Next week finds William and Mary at the world-famous Penn Relay Carnival, Thursday-Saturday April 24-26.
