RICHMOND, Va. – William and Mary baseball senior Kevin Casey garnered Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week honors, announced by the league on Monday afternoon. He split the award with UNCW’s Steven Linkous.

Casey had a clutch weekend at the plate, helping the Tribe to a sweep of CAA foe Northeastern. The senior hit .333 (4-for-12) with a double, two triples, and five RBIs for the week. On the mound, he tossed two innings, earned a win, while allowing one hit, with two strikeouts. In the Tribe’s sweep over Northeastern he hit .444 (4-for-9), driving in the game-winning run in all three contests. To top things off, Casey earned the win on the mound in Sunday’s two inning pitched performance. For the season, he is hitting .311, with 14 doubles, two triples, a home run, and 22 RBIs. On the mound, he has posted 2.81 ERA, with a 4-2 record. He has 20 strikeouts in 16 innings, with a team-high four saves.

The Cherry Hill, N.J. native becomes the fifth recipient of a Player of the Week award, joining juniors Nick Thompson and Michael Katz, who have each been named CAA Player of the Week twice. In 10 weeks of league reporting, the Tribe has had eight players garner a weekly award.

W&M, which is off during the mid-week, returns to action with a three-game CAA series when they welcome Hofstra to Plumeri Park. The series kicks off on Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m.
