Q: Why did you choose the Tribe?
Aside from being a beautiful campus and excellent academics, William and Mary felt more like home. When you walk around you truly are a part of a bigger family.
Q: Describe a moment when you felt the most Tribe pride...
The most Tribe pride was felt when I came home after my first semester at school and met an alumni of the college. We talked about all the traditions of the school and fond memories we have made. We were both impressed with how traditions have continued (King and Queens Ball, Yule Log etc) on throughout the years making the school that much more unique. It’s also a great feeling when we play our home tournament and look around at several houses to see Tribe flags flying. The Tribe community isn’t just on campus, but it can be found almost anywhere.
Q: Take us through your pre-game mental preparation routine:
Visualization is the new key component to my pre-game routine. Focusing on something specific right behind the flag is important. I step up to the ball and rest the club behind it making sure the look of the club next to the ball feels right. I step to the side and take two practice swings making sure I have the correct tempo and placement in my swing. I step behind the ball pin point my target and find a spot right in front of my ball to better align my club. I step up to the ball, look once down the target line, and then I execute the shot.
Q: Do you belong to any other clubs, groups, or organizations?
Member of SAAC and I’m a mentor for the Student Mentoring Program.
Q: What are some community activities you or your team have done?
We took part in the NEDA walk, volunteered for campus kitchen and participate in local food drives through SAAC.
Q: What is your intended or declared major and why?
I am a kinesiology and Health Science major. I have always had an interest in healthcare. Throughout high school I took a lot of bio classes and have found it imperative to be knowledgeable in the health care field. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important and with a major in Kinesiology, I am on the right track to maintaining that medical awareness.
Q: Describe your dream job:
I would love to have a job that moves every year. Wherever I went there would be multiple golf courses and I could play any course I’d want at any time. My job would involve helping people and also encompass creativity and marketing. I like to stay active so any job that requires thinking on your feet and moving around would be perfect.
Q: If you could play another sport at W&M what would it be and why?
Lacrosse. I played lacrosse when I was younger and absolutely loved the sport. I had to make a decision between golf and lacrosse once I got to high school. I miss the fast paced and adrenaline pumping game. Also the idea of really working as a team on the field was fun. Setting up plays and celebrating a victory that we truly earned together was amazing. Lacrosse could not be won by one person but needed every player to create a win.
Q: Favorite team tradition/activity and why?
Secret Santa. It’s always fun to try and guess ‘who has who’ for secret Santa. When we get together to exchange gifts during finals, it’s a nice distraction and it’s entertaining to see the different gifts to one another.
Q: Which teammate will have the most interesting job in 10 years and why?
Kelsey Conway. She is so funny and is involved with so many things currently on campus. She has a lot of special talents that I would be interested to see which one she moves on with for a career.
Q: What animal would best describe you and why?
A puppy. I like to be active and constantly in motion. Puppies do just that and tend to get into trouble along the way in order to find their limits. You learn a lot from making those mistakes in troubled situations and it seems like they are always happy.
Q: What is your favorite quote or phrase?
“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do” –Eleanor Roosevelt
or
“It’s good to have an end to journey toward; but it’s the journey that matters, in the end”
Q: What is your favorite type of food (i.e. Chinese, Mexican, etc.)?
Italian!! Recently have gotten into Hibachi too
Q: Favorite place you have visited or traveled to and why?
Kiawah Island. Perfect little island with awesome golf in the summertime!
Q: If you could sit down for lunch with anyone in the world who would it be and why?
Tom Watson. He is endearing and one of the most stoic golfers.
Q: Most addicting television show?
24! I can’t stop watching no matter how many times I have watched the series.
Q: How will you change the world (or even just one person’s world)?
If I could change someone’s world it would be by making them smile. I have come to learn that no matter who you are, something in life may cause you to have a rough patch. You can really improve someone’s day just by smiling, saying hello and starting a conversation. It’s a small task that is taken for granted but it can really change a person’s happiness one moment at a time.
Q: What’s number one on your bucket list and why?
Learn how to fly a plane/jet!
Q: What is your best non-athletic skill?
I love to bake and I am starting to get into cooking as well. You can really get creative with baking/cooking.
Q: What is your biggest pet peeve and why?
When you are sitting on a beach or on a bench and there’s plenty of other areas to sit around and a huge group of people decide to sit right on top of where you’re sitting!
Q: What is something you are afraid of?
Snakes and spiders. Anything that typically slithers or has more than four legs is slightly scary.
Q: What is an obstacle you had to overcome in your life?
The biggest challenge I had to overcome was making the decision between playing lacrosse or golf. I love to play both sports and no matter which I picked, I would always wonder how different it would be if I chose the other. I miss lacrosse but in the end, I picked the smarter option for me.
