BALTIMORE, Md. (July 25, 2012) - Senior cornerback B.W. Webb and senior safety Brian Thompson garnered preseason all-conference honors at the 2012 Colonial Athletic Association Media Day at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md., on Wednesday.

Additionally, the league's preseason poll was announced at the event, as the Tribe was picked to finish seventh. Both the preseason all-conference team and preseason poll were selected based on a vote by the CAA's 11 head coaches and media relations personnel.

Honored as a 2012 preseason All-American and a Buchanan Award Watch List selection, Webb has established himself as one of the country's top cornerbacks throughout his career an d earned first-team all-conference honors during each of the past two seasons. Last fall, the Newport News, Va., native finished the season with 40 tackles, 3.0 tackles for a loss and two interceptions.

One of the most-decorated players in Colonial Athletic Association history, Webb has earned six all-conference postseason honors during the past three seasons. During that time, he has totaled 11 career interceptions and currently ranks tied for eighth on W&M's all-time list.

A starter since his sophomore season, Thompson established himself as one of the CAA's top safeties last year when he earned second-team all-conference distinction. The Somerset, N.J., native has ranked third on the team in tackles during each of the past two seasons and has totaled 148 tackles, 12.5 tackles for a loss, three interceptions and two forced fumbles during that span.

An excellent leader, Thompson will serve as a co-captain with senior linebacker Jabrel Mines this season.

The Tribe will open the 2012 campaign at Maryland on Sept. 1. Season tickets are available for purchase by calling the W&M Ticket Office at 757-221-3340 or by visiting TribeAthletics.com.
