WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – After posting an outstanding performance in the William and Mary football team’s victory against No. 19/16 James Madison on Saturday, sophomore cornerback DeAndre Houston-Carson has been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Special Teams Player of the Week.

Houston-Carson provided a game-changing highlight when he blocked Cameron Starke’s 31-yard field goal attempt midway through the third quarter. The big play jumpstarted the Tribe’s go-head touchdown drive.

The Woodford, Va., native finished the afternoon with six tackles and a PBU. He currently ranks tied for fifth in the conference with seven PBU’s.

The block was the second of his career, as he also recorded a blocked field goal at Richmond last season.

W&M will look to remain unbeaten at home this season when it hosts No. 20/22 New Hampshire this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. It will be the third consecutive week in which the Tribe has squared off against a ranked conference opponent.
