The Green and Gold enter its final home contest of the season
with an overall record 3-10-3 and a CAA ledger of 1-5-2. On Wednesday night, the College dropped a
tightly contested match at James Madison, 1-0.
Even though W&M outshot the Dukes, 15-13, Madison managed to net the
night's lone score in the 27th minute of action. Senior Ben Anderson leads the Tribe with
eight points on two goals and four assists.
Sophomore Marcus Luster has tallied six points on three goals, while
classmate Chris Albiston has recorded two scores.
Scouting the Blue
Hens
Delaware comes to Williamsburg on Saturday with an overall
record of 3-10-4 and a CAA mark of 1-4-3.
In its lone league win, the Blue Hens defeated Georgia State, 3-2, on junior
Roberto Gimenez's free kick goal in the 86th minute. Freshman Joe Dipre leads UD with seven points
on three goals and one assist, while junior Mark Garrity has tallied six points
on three goals. Ian Hennessy, who is in
his seventh season at Delaware, coaches the Blue Hens.
News and Notes:
- Saturday
night's match will be the 16th meeting between the Tribe and UD, as the College
owns the series advantage, 12-2-1.
Additionally, W&M leads the aggregate goals total, 38-11.
- Prior to kickoff against Delaware, the Green and Gold will honor its two-member senior class with a pregame ceremony. Seniors Ben Anderson and Edward Barr will be playing their final home match for the College on Saturday night. Anderson, who earned All-CAA distinctions as a sophomore, has tallied seven career goals and 10 assists in 70 appearances and 56 matches started for W&M, while Barr has netted two assists in 22 career appearances.
- At halftime of Saturday night's match, the College will honor the 1987 team that captured the CAA title. That season, the Tribe made a NCAA tournament appearance after tallying an overall record of 14-5-2 and a league mark of 6-1.
- Freshman midfielder Ryan Flesch was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Monday. The Manassas, Va., native connected on the game-winning goal in the 87th minute of the College's upset victory at No. 8-ranked Old Dominion last week. For the year, Flesch has seen action in every match and has earned the start on five occasions. In his 15 appearances, Flesch has tallied four points on two goals. His first collegiate goal came in the 57th minute of the College's 4-1 route over Drake on Sept. 14.
- Since 1995, W&M has tallied a mark of 14-1-2 in its regular season home finales. Last season, the Tribe closed its home scheduled with a 3-2 overtime win against Northeastern. Sophomore Chris Albiston netted the game-winner in the 99th minute off an assist from former Tribe standout Nicolas Abrigo. The win versus the Huskies also cemented the Tribe as the No. 3 seed in the 2011 CAA Tournament.
