William and Mary junior Jeremy Wells (Hopewell, Va.) was named to the All-CAA second team Friday by the Colonial Athletic Association, after completing a solid campaign at the head of the Tribe. It is Wells' second year in a row among the conference's top-10 golfers, and he is the fourth men's golfer for the College to earn at least two all-conference awards.
Wells' third season with the Tribe started with a bang as he scored a career-best 67 (-4) in the final round of the season-opening Marshall Invitational, one of his team-best seven rounds at par or better. Three weeks later at the College's own Joe Agee Invitational, he finished second overall out of 72 players, and added another top-10 finish at the Kiawah Classic to end the fall, placing ninth. Wells was the only member of the team to play in every tournament, and finished the year with a sparkling .719 win rate (631-246) and a 74.83 average.
Entering his senior season, the St. Christopher's product is on track to finish his career as one of the Green and Gold's all-time greats. His career average of 75.05 is currently sixth all-time, and with his winning average of more than 500 victories each season (including more than 600 each of the last two), Wells could become just the sixth golfer in school history to eclipse 2,000 career wins. A third all-conference honor in 2013 would also match him with Gary Barton '05 for the most All-CAA teams in program history.
