Tribe Men's Golf Stands Sixth at Georgetown

The William and Mary men's golf team opened play at the Georgetown Invitational Monday, heading into the clubhouse at sundown in sixth place with a two-round total of 587 (+19).  Toledo leads the 12-team tournament at 575 (+7), while Eastern Michigan's Brian Churchill-Smith shot 138 (-4) to lead the individual standings on the 6,953 yard course.

Leading the way for the Tribe on the day was senior Jeremy Wells (Hopewell, Va.), who opened with a two-under 69 and came back with a 72 in the afternoon to stand third overall at 141 (-1).  Sophomore Alex Hicks (Cape May Court House, N.J.) paired rounds of 73 and 74 to finish the day in a tie for 21st, and junior Tanner Taddeo (Hendersonville, Tenn.) is tied for 32nd, improving three strokes between rounds to shoot 73 in the afternoon.  Michael Bekken (Blacksburg, Va.) is two strokes back in a tie for 42nd after his day of 77-74 (151, +9).  Rouding out the team effort was junior Patrick Leisure (Charlottesville, Va.), who shot 76 (+5) in the morning and is tied for 63rd overall.

The Georgetown Invitational continues Tuesday with a final round of play.
