The William and Mary men's golf team improved two spots in the standings Monday at the Wendy's Kiawah Classic, withstanding toughened course conditions to stand in a tie for 13th and just 15 strokes out of the top five. South Carolina continues to hold the top spot in the standings at 575 (+7). Dustin Dingus of Stetson is the individual leader in the clubhouse, at 141 (-1).
Tribe sophomore Alex Hicks (Cape May Court House, N.J.) was the top performer in Monday's round, shooting an even-par 71 to improve to a tie for 29th at 148 (+6). Senior Jeremy Wells (Hopewell, Va.) is tied for 45th at 151 (+9) after carding 79, and juniors Patrick Leisure (Charlottesville, Va.) and Tanner Taddeo (Hendersonville, Tenn.) are tied together at 98th at 160 (-18). Leisure got there after improving 10 strokes from the first round to shoot 75 on Monday. Classmate Michael Bekken (Blacksburg, Va.) rounded out the team effort, and enters the final round in a tie for 111th.
The Wendy's Kiawah Classic continues with one round on Tuesday.
