Tribe Men's Golf 17th After Two Rounds of Wendy's Kiawah Classic

The William and Mary men's golf team is 17th after two rounds of the Wendy's Kiawah Classic Monday night, recovering from a tough first round to shoot 305 in the second and begin ascending the leaderboard.  With one round to go at the team's final fall tournament, the Tribe's 36-hole score of 626 (+50) is only a dozen strokes out of the top-10.  Campbell holds the clubhouse lead at 584 (+8), leading second-place Kennesaw State and the rest of the 21-team field by two strokes.  Charleston Southern's Jacobo Pastor is the individual leader by a single stroke with his score of 140 (-4).

The Tribe's leader heading into Tuesday's final round is junior Jeremy Wells (Hopewell, Va.), carding rounds of 75 and 74 (5-over total) on the 7,061 yard course to stand tied for 20th overall.  Freshman Alex Hicks (Cape May Court House, N.J.) cut four stroke sbetween rounds to shoot 75 Monday, and is tied for 39th with a total score of 154 (+10).  Patrick Leisure (Charlottesville, Va.) cut a pair of strokes between rounds to shoot 77 in the second, and improved to a tie for 48th two strokes behind Hicks.  Nick Schafer (Arlington, Va.) and Spencer Kushner (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) each posted impressive turnarounds in Monday's 18 to recover from tough first rounds, with Schafer shooting 79 over his second round and Kushner coming in just behind at 81.

The Wendy's Kiawah Classic concludes Tuesday with one final round.
