HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The William and Mary baseball team concluded its 2012 season with a 10-8 loss at Hofstra Saturday afternoon.  W&M held the advantage for most of the day, as it owned an 8-4 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh.  However, Hofstra plated six runs in the bottom half en route to the win.  W&M finishes the season with an overall record of 31-25 and a CAA mark of 12-18, while Hofstra closes out the year with a record of 33-20 and a 20-10 ledger in league action.

Leading the way for the Tribe at the plate was sophomore third baseman Ryan Lindemuth, who connected on a career-high six hits to go along with three runs scored.  Freshman first baseman Michael Katz went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored, while senior left fielder Tadd Bower tallied one hit and a run batted in.  Senior right fielder Stephen Arcure finished the afternoon going 2-for-4, while classmate designated hitter Sean Aiken recorded a hit and an RBI.  Senior catcher Chris Forsten notched a hit and a run scored, and junior center fielder Ryan Brown rounded out the effort with two hits and a run batted in.

Senior LHP Cole Shain worked 3.1 innings in the no decision.  Senior reliever's RHP Chris Yates and RHP Jay McCarthy saw 3.2 innings of action, while junior LHP Matt Wainman made an appearance as he recorded the last two outs in the eighth.  Senior reliever RHP Garrison Sarrett tallied a strikeout in his relief appearance.

W&M got on the scoreboard fist as it plated two runs in the opening frame.  With one out, Aiken drove in Lindemuth with a single to right field.  The College's second run of the frame culminated on a Bower sacrifice fly out to left field, which was deep enough to plate Katz from third.

In the top of the second, Katz extended the W&M lead to 3-0 after he pushed across junior Kevin Nutter with a single through the left side.

Hofstra responded with a trio of runs in the bottom half as it tied the affair at 3-3.  Senior designated hitter T.J. Thomas tied the contest up after he connected on a three-run home run to left field.

After both squads plated a run in the third, the College regained the lead at 5-4 in the top half of the fourth.  Lindemuth led off the frame with a double to center field.  The Burke, Va., native later scored on Katz single to center field, and after the Pride went scoreless in the bottom half, W&M owned the one-run advantage.

In the top of the seventh, the Tribe plated three runs as it pushed the margin to 8-4.  With one out, Forsten got the three-run frame started with a single up the middle.  Brown followed with another single, which moved Forsten to second.  After the Pride recorded the inning's second out, Lindemuth plated Forsten after singling to second.  Katz then plated Brown and Lindemuth after he ripped a double into center field. 

Once again, Hofstra responded, but this time the Pride scored six runs in the bottom half as it regained a, 10-8, lead.  With the score, 8-6, still in favor of the Tribe, Hofstra's sophomore left fielder Kenny Jackson connected on a two out grand slam to left field, which gave the Pride a late two-run advantage.

On Saturday, nine seniors played their last game for the Green and Gold.  They include:
