Q: Why did you choose the Tribe?
I really wanted to combine tennis and academics together, which is something incredibly hard to do in England (where I'm from). After spending the weekend with the team, exploring a snowy Williamsburg with Mere and passing a lovely night on Anik Cepeda's floor I really couldn't say no.
Q: Describe a moment when you felt the most Tribe pride...
Watching Anik Cepeda nearly break an ankle tripping on a ball during the point she won to clinch us beating Georgia State to win the CAA championship. Then lifting her into the air to celebrate!
Q: Take us through your pre-game mental preparation routine:
Well, my pre-game mental routine became a little sloppy throughout the year, so I am spending time at the moment to improve it!
Q: What are some community activities you or your team have done?
Our team took part in the NEDA walk organized by Andy Hunter last October. We took special pride in being last.
Q: What is your intended or declared major and why?
Some combination of Business and Maths (yes with an "s" on the end). Not entirely sure what I want to do, but I am hoping that will keep my options open for a while!
Q: Describe your dream job:
Well, as a tennis player, a dream job would be to be a hugely successful professional tennis player, but just as a back up I think a food taster in the south of France would suit me quite nicely.
Q: If you could play another sport at W&M what would it be and why?
Being long legged, 6 foot tall and highly uncoordinated would make this highly improbably, but I LOVE watching gymnastics. You can't look much cooler than flipping around on a bar thinner than your leg, so I would make a surprising addition to the women's gymnastics team!
Q: Favorite team tradition/activity and why?
Mere's constant obsession with putting weird toy insects I don't like in places that I will find and will scare me.
Q: Which teammate will have the most interesting job in 10 years and why?
Marlen (Mesgarzadeh), because those eyes will get her anything she wants.
Q: What animal would best describe you and why?
The tiger that came to tea.....just look up the children's book and it is fairly self explanatory.
Q: What is your favorite quote or phrase?
"Being perfect is about being able to look your friends in the eye and know that you did not let them down because you told the truth. And the truth is you did everything you could. There wasn't one more thing you could have done."
Q: What is your favorite type of food (i.e. Chinese, Mexican, etc.)?
I am a food fanatic, so it's hard for me to make such a massive decision such as this one. But anyone who has been around me for any period of time will know that nothing excites me more than a British made Indian take away. So curry will win this battle.
Q: Favorite place you have visited or travelled to and why?
My uncle lives in Thailand, and I visited him twice when I was younger. It is the most gorgeous place I have ever seen, I can't wait to go back.
Q: If you could sit down for lunch with anyone in the world who would it be and why?
My dad because I miss him.
Q: Most addicting television show?
I have recently been home bound due to a broken hip, and Vampire Diaries was a staple diet. It became unhealthy.
Q: How will you change the world (or even just one person's world)?
I'm going to invent a machine that can transport you instantly anywhere in the world. I'm sure everyone's had enough of waiting in Atlanta and time differences!
Q: Tell us something about yourself that most people don't know...
I have been to Kazakhstan and my friends named one of my ribs "Ferdinand".
Q: What was your most-commented Facebook post?
After Meredith recently joined Facebook she realized that every time someone posted a comment on a picture that she was tagged in her phone would receive a notification, it was clear that it annoyed her immensely. So Jeltje, Anik and I decided to play the chocolate bar game on the comment of that one photo. (the chocolate bar game consists solely of naming as many chocolate bars as you can one by one, the last person to not be able to name a new one loses) .....30000 comments later, we stopped, out of fear for our lives.
Q: What's number one on your bucket list and why?
See the pyramids in Egypt. Who DOESN'T want to do that?
Q: What is your best non-athletic skill?
Well, I can play the piano......and eat approximately 17 boxes of cinnamon toast crunch in a day. You can decide which is more interesting.
Q: What is your biggest pet peeve and why?
People spitting. Just don't. It's not pretty.
Q: What is something you are afraid of?
Spiders. Any sort. Any size.
