William and Mary freshman Carolyn Albright (Raleigh, N.C.) was named Rookie of the Week for volleyball by the Colonial Athletic Association on Monday, after helping the Tribe to a 2-2 record last week. It is the first weekly award of her career.
Albright averaged 1.86 kills and 0.86 blocks while starting all four matches last week for the College. On Tuesday, she hit .333 with 10 kills and four blocks at Liberty, and hit .333 again Friday night as W&M downed Manhattan 3-1 in the first match of the Tribe Invitational. Saturday, she scored eight kills in the morning's 3-1 win over Campbell, and added five blocks and four kills against Georgetown that night. For the season, Albright leads the team with a .279 attack percentage (41-12-104) and ranks second in blocks at 0.92 blocks per set.
Albright and her teammates return to the court this weekend, heading to Durham, N.H. for the Holly Young Invitational. During the two-day tournament on Friday and Saturday, the Tribe will face Central Connecticut State, Holy Cross, and New Hampshire.
