William and Mary freshman Dessi Koleva (Torrance, Calif.) was named the volleyball Rookie of the Week on Monday by the Colonial Athletic Association, following her strong effort at last weekend's New Hampshire tournament.  It is the first weekly award for Koleva, and the second Rookie of the Week honor in as many weeks for the Tribe after Carolyn Albright (Raleigh, N.C.) was selected last week.

Koleva averaged 2.08 kills and 2.25 digs per set over the weekend, helping the Tribe to a 2-1 record and share of the tournament title.  She ranked second on the team in service aces, third in blocks, and fourth in kills, points, digs, and attack percentage.  Against Central Connecticut St., she had a balanced line of seven kills, nine digs, three blocks, and two aces.  Saturday, she began the morning with six kills and 12 digs against Holy Cross, then reversed those numbers while hitting .421 and adding three blocks against New Hampshire.

William and Mary returns home this weekend, hosting the Colonial Challenge on Friday and Saturday Sept. 14-15.  The Tribe will host Elon on Friday night at 7 p.m., before taking on Howard at 10 a.m. and Hampton at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
