Tribe Volleyball Sweeps Howard, 3-0

The William and Mary volleyball team won its fourth in a row on Saturday morning, sweeping Howard 3-0 in the Colonial Challenge.  The Tribe improved to 7-5 with the win, while the Bison fell to 0-10.

Leading the way for W&M was junior Julia Swalchick (Melbourne, Fla.), who scored 10 kills on a .389 attack and added three blocks.  Freshman Mallory Brickerd (Ashburn, Va.) scored nine kills in her best match of the year so far, and classmate Dessi Koleva (Torrance, Calif.) had seven kills on a .312 attack.  Junior Alexandra Ciaccio (Houston, Texas) continued her strong play this weekend, scoring six kills.

Other notables included junior Carolina Rivas (Orlando, Fla.), who had 18 assists, six digs, and an ace, as well as senior Molly Krull (Raleigh, N.C.) who added 17 assists, three digs, a kill, and an ace.  On defense, redshirt-sophomore Devin Andrews-Lyssy (Santa Rosa, Calif.) had nine digs and three services, and freshman Carolyn Albright (Raleigh, N.C.) had a team-best four blocks.

William and Mary will play again in the championship match of the Colonial Challenge tonight at 7 p.m., taking on Hampton.
