WILLIAMSBURG - William and Mary head coach Melissa Aldrich Shelton '91 announced the signing today of three student-athletes to volleyball scholarships for 2011-12. The Tribe's recruiting class includes two hitters and a setter, as well as two who have led their teams to the highest levels of the state championship.

Elizabeth (Liz) Brown -- 6'0" OH / Ellicott City, MD
Centennial HS / Columbia Volleyball Club

Prep:
Helped lead Centennial to an 22-2 mark so far in 2010, and a spot in the Maryland 3A state championship match ... Scored 20 kills in the regional quarterfinals ... Is averaging 3.0 kills and 2.9 digs per set in 2010 ... Averaged 2.6 kills and 2.8 digs per set for Centennial as a junior ... Team went 17-2 overall and 13-0 in the league in 2009, falling in the regional final ... Plays club volleyball for Columbia Volleyball Club.

"Liz is a natural hitter who has experience both on the left and right sides. Extremely competitive, Liz will bring a nice 'edge' to our gym along with her skills. I believe she's going to be a terrific hitter in the CAA, a great leader for our team and a dynamic presence on our campus."

Manon Murray -- 5'10" OH / Greensboro, NC
Grimsley HS / Piedmont Volleyball Club

Prep:
Led Grimsley HS to a 20-3 record in 2010, reaching the second round of the NCHSAA 4A playoffs ... Plays club volleyball with Piedmont Volleyball Club.

Carolina Rivas -- 6'0" setter / Orlando, FL
Bishop Moore Catholic High School / Orlando Volleyball Academy

Prep:
Has led Bishop Moore to the Florida 3A state semifinals and 26-4 record this fall ... Has 493 assists and 102 digs in her senior year ... Plays club volleyball for the Orlando Volleyball Academy ... Earned All-American honors at the 2010 AAU Championships in the 17 Open Division ... Also named all-tournament in 2010 at the USA Volleyball Junior National Championships in the 17 Open Division.
