WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William and Mary senior forward Emily Correal was named to the Virginia Sports Information Director (VaSID) All-State Second Team on Wednesday afternoon as voted upon by the organization. Correal also garnered Colonial Athletic Association Second-Team accolades in 2012-13.
Liberty University’s redshirt senior guard Devon Brown was named the Player of the Year, while the Flames’ head coach Carey Green was tabbed as the Coach of the Year. Longwood’s freshman Daeisha Brown took home the Rookie of the Year distinction.
Correal capped an impressive 2013 campaign ranking fourth in the CAA in scoring (16.8 ppg) and ninth in rebounding (8.0 rpg.). The Venetia, Pa., native, who has started a school record 114 times, became just the third player in program history to record a 20-point and 20-rebound game as she netted 24 points and pulled down 21 rebounds in the season opener against East Carolina on Nov. 9. On Dec. 8, she became the ninth fastest player in program history to record 1,000 career points.
Her 1,349 career points rank sixth in school history. Furthermore, in the Tribe's Dec. 21 contest at North Carolina A&T, Correal poured in a career-high 30 points against the Aggies. For her career, she is only one of four Tribe players to register 100 blocked shots (104).
