WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (May 18, 2011) - William and Mary standout midfielder Molly Wannen was recently honored as a recipient of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) annual All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year award.
The NSCA All-American Athlete of the Year program is in its 32nd year and recognizes student-athletes' dedication to strength training and conditioning. Wannen was selected for the honor by William and Mary speed, strength and conditioning coach John Sauer, CSCS,*D.
"Molly is very focused and disciplined in her training and preparation for lacrosse," Sauer said. "She has improved her total body strength dramatically, which has shown in her performance on the field. It has been a pleasure coaching Molly the past few years."
A three-time all-conference selection, Wannen is one of just nine players in school history to garner all-league honors at least three times. The Silver Spring, Md., native finished her career ranked second on W&M's all-time draw controls list (134) and seventh in caused turnovers (52). Additionally, she shares the program's single-season record for draw controls (52), which she totaled in 2010.
