The William and Mary men's cross country team jumped four teams rated higher in the region, including a pair of nationally-ranked foes, as the Tribe finished third Saturday at the Southeast Region Championships.  W&M's 152 points was behind only national No. 14 North Carolina State (68) and No. 20 Eastern Kentucky (139), and beat out both No. 25 North Carolina (fifth overall) and No. 26 Louisville (sixth).  NC State's Ryan Hill won the individual crown on the 10K course, finishing in 29:48.8 to claim a four-second victory.

The Tribe was led on the day by redshirt-junior Alex McGrath (Marlborough, N.H.), who finished 10th overall in 30:20.9.  McGrath, who was sixth at the CAA Championships two weeks ago, earned his first all-region honor after just missing by one place last fall (placed 26th, top-25 are all-region).  Next across the line for the Green and Gold was sixth-year grad student Lewis Woodard (Charlotte, N.C.), who finished 28th overall in 30:58.7.  Redshirt-junior Zach Gates (Fishers, Ind.) was right behind him in 29th with a time of 30:59.0, and redshirt-sophomore Josh Hardin (Sterling, Va.) was 41st in 31:15.0.  Senior Tom Burke (Edina, Minn.) rounded out the scoring in 31:18.0 for 44th, with redshirt-junior Chris Tyson (Arlington, Va.) right behind him in 31:20.2 for 45th.  Redshirt-freshman Rad Gunzenhauser (Pittsburgh, Pa.) also ran for the Tribe.

The NCAA will announce the teams and individuals selected to the national championships no later than 7 p.m. Eastern tomorrow night (Sunday, Nov. 13).  The rest of the Tribe will prepare for the IC4A Championships next Saturday in famed Van Cortlandt Park in New York City.  The NCAA Championships will be held two days later, Monday Nov. 21, in Terre Haute, Indiana.
