Milardo’s Impressive Performance Highlights W&M Tri-Meet

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (March 16, 2012) - The William and Mary women's gymnastics team earned its second-best score of the season and placed third in a tri-meet at Kaplan Arena on Friday night. No. 20 North Carolina State claimed the team title with a 195.450 and was followed by Rutgers (192.600) and W&M (191.950).

In addition to posting its second-best team total of the year, W&M earned season highs on vault (48.425) and floor (48.950). The impressive total on floor tied for the sixth-best mark in school history in the event.

Individually, senior standout Kristin Milardo led the Tribe and posted the third-best all-around total in school history with a career-best 39.000.

The College opened the meet on vault where Milardo registered a career-best 9.825 - a figure that ranks tied for the sixth-best mark in school history in the event. Junior Jennifer Ware and sophomore Jessica Pritchard also earned career highs with a 9.725 and a 9.650, respectively, en route to helping the team tally a season-best 48.425.

Milardo also recorded the squad's top mark on bars and equaled a career high with a 9.750. Freshman Stacia Ruse also came up big with a 9.725 to help the team total a 47.125.

In the third rotation of the evening, freshman Brandy Stover placed second among all competitors with a 9.725 on beam. Milardo registered a season-high 9.700 and Ruse equaled a career best (9.625), as the team totaled a 47.450 in the event.

W&M closed the meet with an outstanding performance on floor, as four gymnasts posted career highs en route to helping the squad earn the sixth-best team total in school history (48.950). Pritchard placed second overall with a 9.850, while freshman Maggie Lundeen and sophomore Larson Lasek registered a 9.825 and a 9.800, respectively. Ruse also earned a career high with a 9.750, while Milardo contributed to the impressive team total with a 9.725.

In addition to Milardo's career high in all-around, Ruse and Lasek also posted career bests with all-around totals of 38.700 and a 38.125, respectively.

The Tribe will wrap up the regular season when it hosts Temple for senior day on Sunday at 2 p.m.
