Q: Why did you choose
the Tribe?
After visiting William and Mary my junior year, I loved the school and
the gymnastics program. It's also nice being
just a few hours from home.
Q: Describe a moment
when you felt the most Tribe pride...
I was so excited to walk onto the floor with the team in my very first
meet as a freshman.
Q: Take us through
your pre-meet mental preparation routine:
I visualize my routine, take a deep breath, and focus on having
confidence from the time I salute to the time that I finish.
Q: What are some
community activities you or your team has done?
My team and I volunteer at several community events, including the
Juvenile Diabetes Walk, Mayflower Marathon, and the Dave Brown Memorial Meet.
Q: What is your
intended or declared major?
Psychology
Q: Describe your dream
job:
I'm not sure yet, but something in the field of child psychology or
sports psychology.
Q: If you could play
another sport at W&M what would it be?
Track and Field
Q: Favorite team
tradition/activity and why?
I really like doing all the tribe gym cheers right before we start our
meets because it gets everyone pumped up and excited to compete. And of course, dinners at the caf with the
men's gymnastics team are always entertaining.
Q: Which teammate will
have the most interesting job in 10 years and why?
Maggie Lundeen...I can't wait for her debut as a reality TV star
Q: What animal would
best describe you and why?
Probably
a puppy. They're small, loud, and have
lots of energy.
Q: What is your
favorite quote or phrase?
Jenny Ware wrote this quote on a card she gave me before a meet last
year and it really stuck with me - "Don't live down to expectations. Go out there and do something remarkable."
Q: What is your
favorite type of food (i.e. Chinese, Mexican, etc.)?
I like all kinds of seafood (and sushi), but Maryland blue crabs are
definitely my favorite.
Q: Favorite place you
have visited or traveled to and why?
Paris, France. I took a trip
there with my grandparents and thought it was the most beautiful city.
Q: If you could sit
down for lunch with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
Tina Fey. After reading her
book and watching her on SNL for years, I was really impressed by what a
successful and funny person she is.
Q: Most addicting
television show?
Here Comes Honey Boo Boo
Q: How will you change
the world (or even just one person's world)?
A few years ago, I went on a service trip to volunteer with kids at a
school in rural Jamaica. Hopefully I'll
have the opportunity to continue traveling and volunteering with people in less
developed countries.
Q: Tell us something
about yourself that most people don't know...
I spent the past two summers working on a construction site, doing
manual labor.
Q: What's number one
on your bucket list and why?
Skydiving! Who wouldn't want to jump out of a plane?
Q: What is your best
non-athletic skill?
Making smoothies
Q: What is your
biggest pet peeve and why?
I
hate when people are texting instead of paying attention to the person they're
having a face-to-face conversation with.
Q: What is something
you are afraid of?
Any
kind of bugs
Q: What is an obstacle
you had to overcome in your life?
I've had shin problems for years, leading me to
have two shin surgeries and both of my ankles reconstructed. As frustrating as that was, I'm so excited to
start this year injury-free!
