COLLEGE PARK, Md. (Feb. 27, 2011) - The William and Mary women's gymnastics team placed fourth at a quad meet hosted by Maryland on Sunday afternoon. The host Terrapins won the competition with a team score of 195.450 and was followed by Bridgeport (192.825), Temple (190.150) and W&M (187.750).
Senior Teenie Beck led the Tribe's individual performances by placing fifth in all-around with a 38.525, while she also finished among the top 10 on vault, bars and floor.
Beck posted a season best and nearly equaled a career high with a 9.800 on vault. Senior Karla Bercaw and freshman Katie Durst also performed well and recorded a 9.600 and a 9.575, respectively, to help the Tribe notch a team total of 47.550 in the event.
Led by Beck's 9.700, W&M registered a season-high 46.825 on bars. Senior Melissa Cream also aided the effort with a season-best 9.650.
Cream was the Green and Gold's top performer on beam with a season-high 9.675 en route to helping the team post a 46.300.
Beck led the Tribe on floor and totaled her second-best score of the season in the event with a 9.750. As a team, W&M earned a 47.075.
While Beck was the College's top scorer in all-around, Cream (37.950), Durst (37.425) and junior Kristin Milardo (36.075) also competed in all four events.
The Tribe will return to action when it competes at North Carolina next Saturday.
