PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (March 23, 2012) - William and Mary assistant women's gymnastics coach Tim Rivera was recently honored as the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Assistant Coach of the Year.
Rivera was instrumental in helping the Tribe post a successful 2012 campaign, as W&M finished the regular season with the ECAC's third-best RQS (191.555). Additionally, he helped the College rank second on vault (48.260) and third on bars (48.375). One of the team's best performances of the season came at North Carolina State on Feb. 24 when it earned a 48.725 on bars, which tied for the eighth-best mark in school history.
In addition to helping guide W&M to its collective success in the two events, he also helped a number of individuals achieve outstanding seasons. Senior Kristin Milardo finished the regular season ranked second in the league on vault (9.790) and eighth on bars (9.720), while sophomore Jessica Pritchard ranked fifth on bars (9.725).
In addition to Rivera's honor, six Tribe gymnasts garnered ECAC All-Academic Team distinction for their excellent work both in the gym and in the classroom. W&M gymnasts garnering the distinction were Katie Durst, Larson Lasek, Allie Marko, Jessica Pritchard, Stacia Ruse and Jennifer Ware.
