William and Mary's Natalie Baird (Sterling, Va.) regained the top ranking in the Colonial Athletic Association Thursday night, after throwing for a season-best 46.88 meters (153-9) in the discus at the Penn Relays.  The redshirt-junior was fourth overall in the event, and is now the top-ranked thrower in the CAA by eight inches.

Baird has a history of success at the Penn Relays, going all the way back to park View High School when she won three girls discus titles.  In fact, she is the only athlete to ever win three discus titles in the high school division.  As a freshman, she was third in the college discus at 47.37m (155-5), and took 10th as a sophomore in 2010 at 43.42m (142-5).

Baird's throw yesterday was the fourth-longest of her career, and in W&M school history as she now has each of the top 17 discus performances ever at the College.  In addition to being a season-long and an ECAC-qualifying mark, the throw was also Baird's longest since the 2009 USAT&F Junior Championships where she threw 47.44m (155-8).
