RICHMOND, VA - William and Mary freshman Elaina Balouris (Allison Park, Pa.) was selected Thursday as the Colonial Athletic Association's Rookie of the Year for women's cross country. The award, along with similar awards for Athlete and Coach of the Year, were voted on by the league's head coaches following the conclusion of the fall season.

Balouris was the top freshman finisher at the CAA Championships this year, taking third overall in 20:50. She also earned all-region honors by placing 23rd at the Southeast Regional in November, becoming the first Tribe freshman since 2000 to do so. Balouris was the team's top finisher at every race during the regular season, facing off against national-caliber fields at the Paul Short Invitational and Pre-National Invitational, and wrapped up her fall by taking ninth at the ECAC Championships and claiming All-East accolades.
