WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 10, 2014) — The Tribe Athletics Department is excited to join the entire William and Mary community in celebrating One Tribe One Day, a 24-hour giving challenge that is intended to honor the wide-ranging impact of private support and to encourage philanthropy among all members of the university community.
Today’s event highlights the countless ways that generous donors have significantly impacted the lives of hundreds of current and former Tribe student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom. Just one example of that tremendous impact is conveyed in video feature available above or by clicking here.
Gifts of all sizes make a difference at W&M, as individual contributions of $250 or less collectively brought in nearly $3 million for the university during the last fiscal year.
“No matter the size, your gift sends a powerful message about the value of a William and Mary education and, ultimately, has a great impact on the quality of people the university can attract,” said Matthew T. Lambert ’99, vice president for University Development.
Because W&M Athletics receives no funding from the State of Virginia, these donations are essential to the excellence of all the Tribe programs.
TribeAthletics.com will celebrate the day by posting short videos via Instagram throughout the day.
One Tribe One Day participants can track progress with the challenge at www.wm.edu/giving and spread the word and track the day’s events via William & Mary’s Facebook and Twitter accounts using #onetribeoneday.
