Created in 1969, the William & Mary Athletics Hall of Fame recognizes student-athletes, coaches, and administrators who have distinguished themselves as outstanding performers on or with an intercollegiate team. Additionally honored are those recognized for continued contributions to society through community activities that bring distinction to the College.
Â
Criteria for membership include:
1. It shall be open to persons who have made an outstanding contribution to the University as a superior competitor in Intercollegiate Athletics, a teacher-coach who has compiled a distinguished record, or as an administrator who has made a long-term exemplary contribution to the Athletic Program through strong leadership.
Â
2. Additional consideration will be given for continued contributions to society through community activities, through performance in chosen fields of endeavor, and through avocations that bring credit and distinction to the College.
Â
3. So that proper assessment may be made of the nominee, at least ten years must have elapsed since the competitor's graduation. A coach or administrator should be disassociated with W&M Athletics in an official capacity for at least five years. Exceptions to the five years must receive a unanimous vote of the committee.
Â
