WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (March 20, 2016)—The William & Mary men's gymnastics team wrapped up its regular-season slate with a second-place finish at a tri-meet on Senior Day at Kaplan Arena.
No. 3 Ohio State claimed the team title with a 437.05 and was followed by W&M (409.0) and Temple (394.95).
Highlighting the Tribe's individual efforts were sophomore
Griffin Antle, who placed second on pommel horse (14.5), and classemate
Juan Palma, who placed third on floor (14.7) and vault (14.7).
The Tribe's best team score came on vault where it nearly matched a season high with a 71.0. In addition to Palma's third-place effort, seniors
Nick Van Dyke (14.5) and
Keaton Ackerman (14.25) also came up big.
W&M also performed well and floor and posted a 69.250, as Palma's third-placed showing was coupled with senior
Simon Casey's 14.0.
Van Dyke posted a career-high 14.2 on rings en route to helping the squad earn a 68.7 in the event.
Antle's second-place effort highlighted W&M's performances on pommel horse, as the squad recorded a 68.65 in the event.
Junior
Rob Meyer was the Tribe's top scorer on parallel bars (14.4), while freshman
David Allen registered the College's top mark on high bar (13.75).
Junior
Aria Sabbagh was the meet's lone all-around competitor and totaled a 79.5.
The Tribe will begin the postseason portion of its schedule when it competes at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championship hosted by Springfield College next weekend.
