WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (March 5, 2016)—The William & Mary women's gymnastics team wrapped up its regular season home slate with a 192.450 – 192.225 victory against North Carolina on senior day at Kaplan arena on Saturday afternoon.
W&M entered the final rotation trailing by 0.525 but posted a season-high 48.850 on floor en route to securing the exciting victory. Tribe gymnasts claimed three of the top four scores in the pivotal meet-ending event, as junior
Olivia O'Connor (9.850), senior
Brittany Stover (9.825) and senior
Alyssa Glass (9.775) placed second, third and fourth, respectively. O'Connor and Glass' marks both equaled career highs, while Stover's score represented a season best.
In addition to the impressive effort on floor, the College also opened the meet with an outstanding performance on vault with a 48.450. Stover tied for first in the event with a 9.775, while O'Connor placed third (9.700).
Sophomore
Eileen Malecki and Stover both came up big on bars with a pair of 9.725's en route to helping the squad earn a 48.150 in the event.
Highlighting the Tribe's routines on beam was freshman
Madison Dwyer who tied for third overall with a 9.725.
Stover was W&M's top all-arounder and placed second with a 38.950.
The Tribe will close out the regular season with a dual meet at Towson next Sunday at 4 p.m. W&M will then return to Williamsburg the following weekend when it looks to claim the program's third consecutive Eastern College Athletic Conference title as it hosts the league championship on March 19.
