Women's Tennis Announces Additions for 2016-17

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's tennis head coach Tyler Thomson announced the addition of Rosie Cheng (Auckland, New Zealand), Charlotte Madson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and Natalia Perry (Export, Pa./Franklin Regional) to the Tribe program on Wednesday. The incoming freshman trio will join the two-time defending Colonial Athletic Association Champions beginning in the fall of 2016. Check out the players' bios below:
 
"Jesse (Medvene-Collins) and I, along with the team, are very excited for Rosie, Charlotte and Natalia to join the Tribe," Thomson said of the incoming trio. "We feel next season can be very successful and that this class of freshmen can make our team environment even better. I'm happy they've all chosen William & Mary. I believe the next four years will be special for each of them."

Ranked a high as No. 166 in the World ITF Junior Combined Rankings, accomplished in December of 2015 … Owns a 66-37 ITF singles record and a 40-34 doubles mark  … Won the ITF 2015 Waikato-Bays Under 18s Championships (Grade 5) in Hamilton, New Zealand … Advanced to the singles semifinals and the doubles final at the Auckland ITF Indoor Championships (Grade 4) in 2015 … Claimed singles championships at the 2015 New Zealand ITF Summer Championships in February of 2015 and the 2013 Gimcheon International Junior Championships (Grade 5) in Gimcheon City, Korea, Republic … Won doubles titles  at the China Junior 7 Beijing in May of 2015 and the Queensland Junior Winter International 1 in July of 2014 … Competed on the WTA Tour at the 2015 ASB Classic in doubles as a wildcard.

A four-star recruit by the Tennis Recruiting Network … Ranked as high as No. 121 nationally by the Tennis Recruiting Network … Currently ranked No. 128 nationally and No. 4 in the state of Pennsylvania … Was the bronze medalist at the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) State Championship in both 2014 and 2015 … Finished as the WPIAL Class AAA runner up in 2014, before falling in the semifinals in 2015 …  Captured the Section 4 championship in 2014 and 2015 … Competed in the WPIAL doubles tournament in 2012 with her sister, Alyza, and finished third in the section before falling in the opening round of the state championship … Named The Almanac women's tennis MVP in 2014 and 2015 … Won the Level 4 Sectional singles Tournament at Legacy (SR-L4) in August 2015 … Competed at 2015 USTA National Championships … Advanced to the second round of the 2015 USTA National Clay Court Championship.

Ranked as high as No. 54 nationally by the Tennis Recruiting Network in 2014 … Advanced to the semifinals of the WPIAL Class AAA singles tournament three times, placing third in 2012, 2013 and 2015 … Earned a spot in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class AAA singles finals in 2015 … Placed third in doubles in the WPIAL Class AAA singles tournament in 2013 … Won Fox Chapel Junior Open in August in Pittsburgh, Pa. … Won the Section 1 singles championships in 2015.
