RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 10, 2017) – The William & Mary women's gymnastics team earned a season-high 193.025 en route to a fourth-place finish at a quad meet hosted by NC State on Friday evening.
North Carolina claimed the team title with a 195.675 and was followed by the host Wolfpack (195.025), Pittsburgh (194.075) and W&M (193.025).
In addition to recording its best team total of the season, the Tribe also earned season highs on bars (48.700) and floor (48.550).
Freshman
Caroline Caponi highlighted W&M's individual efforts and placed second in all-around with a career-best 38.925.
The Tribe opened the meet on beam and registered a 47.675. Sophomore
Madison Dwyer tied for 10th with a 9.700, while Caponi also contributed to the team score with a 9.650.
W&M then moved to floor where it posted a season-best 48.550. Caponi led the way with a career-high 9.775, which tied for 10th, while senior
Olivia O'Connor and sophomore
Aaliyah Kerr both recorded a 9.750.
Freshman
Erika Marr led the College on vault and tied for eighth with a career-high 9.725. Dwyer also came up big with a career-best 9.675 to help the squad earn a 48.100.
The Tribe wrapped up the meet with a season-high 48.700 on bars. Caponi tied for third with a career-best 9.850, while Marr and classmate
Taylor White also recorded career bests (9.725).
In addition to Caponi's second-place showing in all-around, O'Connor also competed in all four events and placed fourth with a 38.400.
The Tribe will be back in action next Friday when it competes at a five-team meet hosted by George Washington.
