Tribe Football Spring Practice Update – March 22

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (March 22, 2017) – Today's William & Mary football spring practice update features a look at the Tribe's spring depth chart at the running back position.

Running Backs Coach DJ Mangas
"Competition for spots at running back are wide open this spring. We have a lot of talented, hard-working competitors, and I am excited to see who steps up and emerges. It's a very athletic and coachable group ,and I look forward to working with them as they continue to make strides forward this spring."
 
Running Backs
#35 Brehon Britt, So., (5-10, 200)
Talented tailback who possesses good speed, burst and quickness through the hole … Potential to be a big-play threat … Continuously shown improvement … Good knowledge of the offensive schemes and his role within the offense … Reserve who saw action in five games as a redshirt freshman last fall … Finished the year with eight carries for 14 yards.
#33 Noah Giles, RFr. (6-0, 180)
Possesses great burst, speed and quickness … Shown tremendous big-play potential … Smart player who is very coachable … Redshirted as a scout team running back last season … Member of the travel squad for all 11 games.
#29 Jaret Anderson, RFr. (5-10, 197)
Returning from a knee injury suffered last year … Made significant progress in recovery with a good winter conditioning program … Hard worker and very competitive … Very coachable … High expectations for him as he continues to regain full strength … Redshirted last season.
#4 Jonathan Dunn, Sr. (5-9, 200)
Quick and explosive out of the backfield … Consistently gives good effort and is very coachable … Very reliable on the field … Appeared in eight games and earned a start last season … Finished the year with 180 rushing yards on 50 carries with two touchdowns … Also hauled in nine catches for 49 yards … Totaled a career-high 89 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns in his lone career start in the win against Norfolk State last season.
#26 Albert Funderburke, So. (6-0, 200)
Will not compete this spring as he continues recovering from a season-ending knee injury suffered against Elon last fall … Prototypical running back who possesses all the traits necessary to develop into tremendous player … Good combination of size, speed and strength … Possesses size and strength to break tackles, as well as quickness to make tacklers miss … Big-play threat … Excellent in pass protection … Shown toughness and consistently works hard … Extremely high ceiling … Ranked 17th nationally in rushing touchdowns (4) at the time of his injury last season … Also ranked eighth in the CAA in rushing yards per game (73.5) and fourth in yards per carry (7.5) before being sidelined for the year … Led the team in rushing during all four games in which he played.
