WASHINGTON, D.C. (Feb. 4, 2018) – The William & Mary women's gymnastics team nearly matched its best score of the year and posted season highs in two events en route to a third-place finish at a quad meet hosted by George Washington on Sunday afternoon.
The host Colonials claimed the team title with a 196.525 and were followed by Kent State (195.325), W&M (193.225) and UW-Oshkosh (190.975).
Freshman
Katie Waldman highlighted the Tribe's individual performances by recording the team's top score in two events (vault, beam).
Event Recaps
Vault, 48.300 – Waldman placed among the top 10 individuals with a 9.750, while sophomore
Erika Marr equaled a season high with a 9.725 to contribute to the team total.
Bars, 48.250 – Sophomore
Caroline Caponi tied for seventh with a season-high 9.800 to lead the Tribe, while classmate
Evan Pakshong earned a 9.725 to help W&M record its best mark of the season on bars.
Beam, 48.025 – Waldman was the Tribe's top performer on beam and tied for seventh with a 9.725.
Floor, 48.650 – W&M earned a season high on floor, as
Aaliyah Kerr tied for seventh with a 9.800 and sophomore
Taylor White recorded a career-best 9.775. Waldman and Pakshong also came up big with a pair of 9.725's.
All-Around – Competing as an all-arounder for the first time of her career, White led W&M with a 38.575. Waldman also competed in all four events and tallied a 38.175.

W&M will return to action when it competes at a quad-meet hosted by Maryland with Rutgers and Brown next Sunday.
