William & Mary has an impressive academic reputation but beyond the impressive academics, the Tribe is one of the most storied and competitive Division I soccer programs in the nation. All of the current players that I have met also made me and all of the other recruits so comfortable. Why did you choose William & Mary?
I had always played soccer close to home for most of my younger club teams. It wasn't until my club team dissolved that I actually had to start making decisions by myself like if I wanted to keep playing, and if so where. My best friend had played up in Williamsburg for Va Legacy and I decided I wanted to continue playing with her up in Williamsburg. A little more than two years later and Williamsburg has become like my second home to me. Every night when we drove up to practices or games we would pass the William & Mary sign and that got me thinking that I could stay at my second home playing soccer, not be too far from home or my family, and still academically challenge myself. On my first tour around the campus I knew immediately I loved it. Because of this gut feeling I always had William & Mary as my top school, and I always made sure to contact them about recruiting. This school has the perfect amount of academics, soccer, and is home for me. – Zoe Smith

Why did you choose William & Mary?
I chose to attend William & Mary for several reasons: the location/community, academic strength, and of course my opportunity to play soccer. I live in Lynchburg, Va. and Williamsburg is only about three hours away, so my parents have the ability to watch me play and I can visit them as well. When I visited the college for the first time when I was a freshman, I adored Colonial Williamsburg as well and I could see myself attending in the future. Selecting a college that is academically challenging was a priority of mine as well; I would like to go into sports medicine or some other science/math based field and I know that William & Mary will be able to prepare me for this. I am also glad that William & Mary is a liberal arts college so I will have the freedom to explore other areas that could interest me. And finally, I have always been interested in playing soccer in college and when the opportunity was presented to me my sophomore year by Coach Daly I knew I had to take it. William & Mary is the perfect combination of academics and athletics and I can not wait for the next four years! - Amanda Wigboldy
