WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (March 10, 2018) – William & Mary standout freshman
Katie Waldman won the all-around title, but the Tribe women's gymnastics team fell to Towson, 194.200-192.350, at Kaplan Arena on Saturday afternoon.
W&M defeated the Tigers on beam and only trailed by narrow margins on vault and bars, but it was unable to overcome a 2.025 deficit on floor.
In addition to winning all-around (39.025), Waldman also earned a share of the bars title with teammate
Evan Pakshong (9.800). Pakshong also posted the meet's top score on beam by equaling a career high (9.825).
Event Recaps
Vault, 48.500 – Waldman placed second on vault (9.775) to lead W&M in the event, while
Caroline Caponi (9.725, season high) and
Erika Marr (9.700) also performed well.
Bars, 48.475 – Waldman and Pakshong shared the bars title with a 9.800, while
Taylor White contributed to the team total with a 9.700.
Beam, 48.600 – W&M won beam with a 48.600, which was just 0.25 shy of equaling the 10th-best score in school history. Pakshong (9.825) and Waldman (9.750) claimed the top two spots, while Marr finished fourth with a 9.725.
Floor, 46.775 –
Elizabeth Snoddy equaled a career high with a 9.775 to lead W&M on floor.
All-Around – In addition to Waldman, White (37.425) and Caponi (37.025) also competed in all four events.
