Women's Soccer Announces 2016 Recruiting Class

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's soccer head coach John Daly announced the signing of seven new student-athletes on National Signing Day Wednesday. Stephie Arens, Sully Boulden, Katelyn Briguglio, Rachel DeMasters, Charlotte Hyland, and Hannah Keith all signed on to join the Tribe next season. 
 
"This is a strong class with players who have the ability to challenge for playing time," said Daly, who will enter is 30th season with the Tribe next year. "We have some big shoes to fill but, with this class and the experience gained by our players this past season, I expect us to once again be a force in the CAA."
 
Stephie Arens, 5-3, Midfielder/Defender, Ashburn, Va./Broad Run
HIGH SCHOOL
Getting ready to start her fourth season as a varsity soccer player at Broad Run High School in Northern Virginia … Also was a member of the cross country team … Helped lead her high school to the VHSL State Championship last season … Earned a nod on the second-team all-conference following her junior season … Played four years of club soccer for Clyde Watson and Brent Leiba on McLane ECNL '97 where she helped the team to the national finals in 2014 and 2015 … In 2012 as a member of the HYS Freedom, she helped the team to a Virginia State Championship … As a runner was named First-Team All-District in cross country … In the classroom, she is a member of the National Honor Society, Interact Club, UNICEF, and Urban Music Club … Won the 2016 National Hispanic Scholar Award.

Daughter of Ronald and Helena Arens … Plans on majoring in biology at the College … Her sister, Becky, is already attending W&M and is a member of the class of 2018 … She enjoys reading, playing ping pong, and hiking during her spare time.

"A member of the McLean Soccer Club is a left sided player who can play as a left back or a left midfield player. She is skillful and possesses a tremendous left foot."
 
Sully Boulden, 5-8, Forward/Defender, Wilmington, Del./Archmere Academy
HIGH SCHOOL
About to enter her senior season of soccer at Archmere Academy in Delaware … A two-sport athlete she also spent a season on the varsity swim team … Already been named a team captain for the upcoming soccer season … Earned three-straight all-conference honors … Also been a member of the all-state team since her freshman season … Named a Rising Star following her freshman season … Tabbed as the team's Most Outstanding Player award winner following her sophomore and junior seasons … Helped her high school to the state finals as a sophomore, before a return to the semifinals as a junior … Played her club soccer for the Delaware Rush (2011-14) and the Football Club of Philadelphia (2015-present) … With the Rush she was a team captain and was named to the National Rush Select Team in 2014 … In the classroom she is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society … She volunteers at the SPCA of Philadelphia … Was the manager of her high school's football team … Is a Kairos Leader for her Youth Ministry.

Daughter of Bob Boulden and Nicole Brodsky … Plans on majoring in pre-law or marketing at the College … Her father, Bob, played football at the University Delaware … Enjoys fitness training, reading, volunteering at the SPCA and hanging out with her friends during her spare time.

"Played her club soccer for FC USA (Philadelphia) Soccer Club and is a strong, athletic player who can play equally as well as a center forward or a center back. I expect her to challenge for playing time up front in the middle and will be a potent goal scoring threat."
 
Katelyn Briguglio, Goalkeeper, Fallston, Md./Fallston
HIGH SCHOOL

Plays her high school at Fallston high school in Maryland … Participated in club soccer with the Maryland United Soccer Club … Selected for the Maryland Olympic Development Program (ODP).

Rachel DeMasters, 5-7, Midfielder/Forward, Stanardsville, Va./William Monroe
HIGH SCHOOL
Plays varsity soccer at William Monroe High School in Virginia … Ran track and was a cheerleader as well … Named a captain for the soccer during the 2015 and 2016 season … Following her junior season was named Offensive Player of the Year, first-team all-district, all-conference, and all-region … Picked up a second-team all-state honor as a junior … As a sophomore was named her team's Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year, a spot on the first-team all-district and all-conference and a second-team all-region honor … As a freshman was named her team's Most Outstanding Player of the Year  … Holds her school records for goals in a season, 65, which ranks third in the state of Virginia, most assists, 35, which is second in the state, most goals in one game, 8, which is second in Virginia, most assists in one game, 5, which is second in the state, and most points in a single-season, 165, which is third in the state … Plays her club soccer with the SOCA Elite travel team … In the classroom, she is a member of the National Beta Club, and Future Business Leaders of America, while she is also a member of Young Life.

Daughter of Stephen DeMasters and Roni Hanger … Plans to major in biology or chemistry in the hopes of becoming a dentist or orthodontist … Enjoys hiking, painting, cosmetology, and photography in her spare time.

Charlotte Hyland, 5-4, Midfielder, Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary School
HIGH SCHOOL
About to start her senior season at Robinson Secondary School in Northern Virginia … Was a member of the all-district team in 2013 … Last season as also an all-district honoree, while being named to the first-team all-region … Played her club soccer for the Braddock Road Youth Club (BRYC) and Braddock Road Stars Elite (W-League) … Named a captain of her BRYC Club team each of the last two seasons … Was the only player on her club team to represent on the Virginia Club Champions League … Was named to the Select Team in the 2012 Dallas Cup … In the classroom, is a member of the student government, and the Robinson Singers … Received Robinson's Academic Award for Straight A's all four years of high school.

Daughter of Chuck and Mary Hyland … Plans on majoring in marketing at the College … Her sister, Maggie, played lacrosse at Louisville … Cousins James Hyland played lacrosse at UMBC, while another cousin, Carrie Murphy, was a cheerleader at Virginia Tech … Her uncle, Michael Murphy '79, and cousin, Tim Murphy '07, both graduated from William & Mary … Enjoys watching movies, singing, watching football and soccer, and trying new restaurants in her spare time.
