WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary women's basketball sophomore
Abby Rendle will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury, the women's basketball program announced on Wednesday.
"Losing Abby is difficult, but we have to move forward," said head coach
Ed Swanson. "Adversity is something all teams face in the course of a season. We will find out a lot about the make up of our roster and see who rises up to the opportunity to replace her minutes and production."
Rendle is the Tribe's leading scorer averaging 13.2 points per game and 7.3 rebounds a game. She recorded the program's first career triple-double against UNCW on Jan. 22 with 24 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 block shots, all of which were career highs.
She finishes her season with 53 blocks, which is 3.1 per game and is the most in single-season school history, led the CAA, and ranked 11th in the NCAA. Her 53 total blocks rank her fifth in single-season history. For her career she has registered 121 rejections, which rank her third all-time in W&M school history.
The Green and Gold return home for a pair of games this weekend. The Tribe welcomes College of Charleston for a game on Friday, Jan. 29, before hosting Northeastern on Sunday, Jan. 31. Tipoffs are set for 7 p.m., and 2 p.m., respectively.
