Tribe Men’s Swimming and Diving Places Sixth at the CAA Championships

Fairfax, Va. - The William and Mary Tribe men’s swimming and diving team concluded its season on Saturday night at the CAA Championships, placing sixth with a team total of 386.5.

In the 1,650 free, freshman Kyle McVeigh had a fantastic swim, earning a silver medal with a personal-best time of 15:47.05. With his mark, McVeigh breaks the school’s freshman record and now ranks second all-time in school history. Also scoring points for the Tribe in the event was sophomore Luke Robbins, who placed 16th in a time of 16:24.20.

In the 200 fly, freshman K.J. Shaw finished just short of the medal stand, coming in fourth with a time of 1:50.53. In the consolation final, freshman Evan Mulloy placed fifth in a time of 1:53.10.

In the 400 free relay, the team of junior Michael Naccarelli, sophomore Stephen Fay, sophomore Luke Robbins, and senior Kevin Gallagher placed fifth in a time of 3:04.29, ranking the team sixth all-time in the event in school hiatory.

In the consolation final of the 100 free, the Tribe was led by senior Kevin Gallagher, who placed fourth in a time of 46.30. Following Gallagher were his three teammates freshman Hunter Perrot, junior Michael Naccarelli, and redshirt-freshman Max Glober in fifth, sixth, and seventh position, respectively.

In the consolation final of the 200 back, sophomore Jake Maloy placed fifth in a time of 1:54.56, while freshman Sidney Glass came in seventh with a time of 1:54.90.

In the consolation final of the 200 breast, junior Jim Fenningham placed sixth with a season-best time of 2:07.60, while freshman Ben Ward finished eighth with a time of 2:10.08.

In the 3-meter dive, junior Mike Newcomb scored a career-high 229.40 points, ranking him 10th all-time at the College in the event.

The end of the CAA Championships brings an end to a very successful season for the William and Mary Tribe men’s swimming and diving team.
